Back to school will soon be upon us and with that, a new 2018-2019 School Parent Council will be elected
The Council is composed of a Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary and up to 20 elected Parent Members. Please consider becoming a part of the Council. Our kids and school need parents/guardians like YOU to help make this an awesome year. Please see below for a brief description for each position.
Over the course of the coming school year, whether or not you would like to join Council, you will also have the opportunity to volunteer for our many coordinator positions and events that run throughout the year! It's such a rewarding way to help out and every little bit helps.
If you are interested, simply want to see how School Parent Council works, or want to meet other amazing parents in our community, we invite you to come to our first meeting of the year on Thursday, Sept 13 at 6:30pm at the school in the library. ...is a voting member of the Council who presides over all the meetings. They set the agenda, approve the draft of the minutes and work with the Principal to keep open communication between the school and the parents. The Chair acts as a liaison between parents of the school, the Council and the school.
...assists the Chair in communication and runs the meetings if the Chair is absent.
They support the Chair in their role and act as a liaison between parents of the school, the Council and the school.
...takes the minutes of the Council meetings, records the attendance and provides the minutes to the Chair for the official record.
...ensures that all Board and Ministry financial policies and procedures are followed with respect to Council funds, reports on the financial position of the Council at a minimum of 4 meetings of the Council and at year end. The report should summarize the opening balances, receipts, expenses and closing balances for each fundraising activity undertaken by Council.
